Frequently asked questions

Below you will find the answers to some of our most commonly-asked wedding planning questions. If there's anything else you would like to know, we recommend arranging a consultation, where we can have an initial chat about your wedding plans.

Where are you based?

I split my time between The New Forest and the Lincolnshire countryside, so I am conveniently located to cover most of the country. Our team frequently travels all over the UK, and we’ll happily come to wherever in the country you’ve chosen to hold your celebrations.

Do we have to work with your preferred suppliers?

We’ve been lucky enough to form connections with some of the best suppliers in the wedding industry, and we are always happy to recommend help in bringing your vision to life. But no, you will never be confined to our recommended list, and we're always willing to work with new suppliers who share our values.

How much do wedding planners cost?

Our fees for full wedding planning are based on 12% of your overall wedding spend. We do enforce a minimum fee, which varies depending on the size, duration, location and complexity of your plans. Following your consultation, we will send you a bespoke proposal with a quotation for our services and any additional expenses.

Do you do destination weddings?

Our specialism is UK weddings, so we currently do not offer a destination wedding service. However, we frequently work with couples who themselves are based outside of the UK, and so we are accustomed to working remotely with our clients where needed.

Will there be any extra costs?

We keep things simple from the get-go by including all travel within England in our fee. We do kindly ask though that you cover our accommodation expenses for the duration of your celebration.

Do you take commission?

Our pricing is completely transparent. We never take commission from any of your suppliers. Any referral fees will be passed onto you, in the form of a discount.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we have full public liability insurance.

We lead busy lives! Will a wedding planner need a lot of our time?

A good planner should manage the whole planning process with ease, taking the time-heavy, decision-making processes off your shoulders. We can consult with you as much or as little as you’d like; you are always in control of the planning process. Our clients are often based overseas, or travel a lot, working variable hours. We are used to being adaptable, and working flexibly around their requirements in a way that best suits their lifestyle. This includes evening or weekend meetings, if required.

Will a planner impose their own style over our tastes?

We don’t want any couple to feel they are losing control of their plans. You’ll be fully involved throughout every stage of the process - after all, the whole event has been designed with you in mind! You can have as little or as much design input as you’d like; this can very much be a joint collaboration if that’s what you choose.

Will our wedding feel unique?

We pride ourselves on how individual each wedding is. There’s nothing worse than seeing a wedding that’s been ‘done’ a hundred times. Although the Rachel Dalton Weddings style is distinct, each of the weddings we take on is designed specifically to suit you and your personalities, and will be overseen by Rachel personally to ensure it feels exclusive, purposeful and completely unique.

Who will be there on the day of our wedding?

For full wedding planning clients, Rachel will be onsite for the duration of your wedding celebrations, discreetly managing your plans behind the scenes to make sure everything runs seamlessly. After months (or sometimes years) of planning, there's nothing more rewarding than celebrating with you on the day itself!

For wedding coordination, our lead coordinator Abbie will be your primary contact throughout, and will be in attendance on the day of your wedding so that you can relax and enjoy your celebration!

We're getting married at home, can you help?

Absolutely! Marquee weddings within private residences are a favourite of ours, so we'd love to help. Due to the increased work involved when getting married in a private home, we recommend getting in touch as early as possible in the planning process.

Do you offer partial wedding planning?

Full planning and on-the-day coordination are our specialities. However, if you have a shorter time scale, do get in touch - a bespoke package may be possible.
