Mikayla & Nick approached me early in their wedding planning journey, and we instantly connected over our shared love of garden-inspired, quintessentially English weddings. Both American, but having moved to London a year earlier, they decided on a late-summer Kew Gardens wedding. Given that it was one of the first London landmarks that they visited when they first moved to the UK, this iconic orangery wedding venue served as the perfect setting for their big day, and they couldn't wait to share it with their international guests who were travelling from the US for the occasion.
The day began with a ceremony in the Nash Conservatory, an elegant glasshouse filled with natural light. To honour Mikayla’s Jewish heritage, we styled the ceremony space with a vibrant floral chuppah, adding a personal and meaningful touch. The couple exchanged heartfelt, handwritten vows and incorporated a Jewish unity candle, symbolising the union of their families.
Following the ceremony, guests meandered through the beautiful gardens to the Princess of Wales Conservatory, where they were greeted with signature cocktails, delicious canapés and the relaxed tones of an acoustic guitarist. Meanwhile, Mikayla and Nick explored some of Kew Gardens' most iconic locations for their couple's portraits, before rejoining their guests amidst the breathtaking greenhouse setting.
As the sun went down, guests took their seats in the Orangery for a romantic, candlelit reception. Our design concept was inspired by Kew Gardens itself and the theme of "bringing the outside in". Late summer blooms, including dahlias and English roses, were arranged in soft, low centrepieces and whimsical floral meadows, reflecting the vibrant colours found throughout the gardens. We complimented this with dusky coral napkins, muted gold accents and textural, watercolour stationery, which featured plantable wildflower place names, so that guests could take a small part of the garden theme home with them. After the formal wedding breakfast, and an array of wonderful speeches, Mikayla and Nick took to the dance floor for their first dance, kicking off an epic evening of live music. Our DJ live act kept the energy high all night, concluding this wonderful day in a perfectly memorable way.
Mikayla and Nick's Kew Gardens wedding was a true reflection of their love story, and it was an honour to work with them to help bring their beautifully meaningful celebration to life.
We never left a meeting feeling like anything was left up in the air (literally after every call we looked at each other and said "love her"). On the day of the wedding, we didn't have to worry about a thing knowing Rachel and her team were in control. We were so overwhelmed with how seamless and fun the whole night was, and Rachel was entirely to thank for that!"
