Callie and Stephen reached out to me in January 2020, and we bonded instantly over our shared appreciation for countryside weddings and refined yet romantic styling. Based in Chicago at the time, we set about planning their quintessentially English destination wedding at Firle Place, a breathtaking country house in the heart of the Sussex countryside, as a nod to Callie's family who were originally from the UK. Given the restrictions in place, we had to plan most of this wedding virtually, and I was honoured that my clients entrusted me to make many of the key decisions for the day on their behalf.
We were blessed with beautifully sunny weather on the day of the wedding, so we made the most of the incredible gardens at Firle Place. Upon arriving, guests were welcomed into the courtyard for an intimate, heartfelt ceremony, before being led through to the gardens for a relaxed drinks reception. A string quartet played whilst signature 'his & hers' cocktails were served, with the rolling Sussex countryside serving as a tranquil backdrop to the festivities.
Guests dined in the Great Hall, which we styled with a subtle colour palette of muted pinks, pale blues and pops of dark purple. The overall effect was clean yet classic, drawing inspiration from the countryside surroundings. For the evening reception, we transformed a traditional pole marquee into an elegant, sophisticated party space, and our live band continued the celebrations into the night.
